    Cotto's legacy after Martinez

You know, boxing fans, that Cotto is doing it again!

Just envisage Mayweather's resume highlighted with fights against a prime Margarito and Pacquiao. And could you really see Mayweather jumping to the 160lb division to take on Martinez?

SO IF Cotto does the unimaginable. If he beats Martinez to capture the middleweight title to elevate his status as a 4-division champion (& 18-4 Championship record) - how will history evaluate the Puerto Rican's legacy in the sport?

It may be unimaginable to some, and perhaps understandably so, that Cotto doesn't have what it takes to do it. Given he struggled with Trout's movement and awkwardness. And looked a step slow against Mayweather (despite winning arguably 4-5 rounds), the critics assert that Cotto's time is over.

The flipside to the coin is that Roach may have rejuvenated Cotto, and with the right tactical advice (which he so struggled with against Pacquiao due to having no trainer), Cotto comes out right to seal his legacy as one of the modern era's true champions, ensuring his place in the Hall of Fame.

After he gets knocked out by Martinez, he'll be known by how he's known now.

A good solid fighter who lost most of his big fights.

Cotto is a HOFer right now..IMO and the idea Cotto has lost all his big fights is crazy. Cotto has been fighting for sometime now and has had plenty of big fights and won most of them but if you want to look past the atrocity he endured from the plaster wrapped Margacheato beating he took, then I can see why were even having this conversation.

In consideration to your absurdity, here are Cotto's notable wins:

Torres: undefeated, came back to claim 140 championship
Malignaggi: undefeated, continued to claim championships at 140 & 147
Maussa: undefeated, came back to claim championship at 140
Quintana: undefeated, reclaimed championship by beating Paul Williams
Judah: came back claim championship at 140
Mosley: became THE welterweight champion after Cotto loss
N'dou: came back to win a championship
Clottey: IBF champion, continues his career
              Foreman: undefeated champion

Not to forget he beat former champions like Cesar Bazan & Corley, Mayorga.

He was cheated by Margarito the first time round but avenged the loss in the highly anticipated rematch.

Not many of today's boxers can boast a win over a 2007 version of Mosley.

That's really his only big win.

Um, u do realization that Cotto started 2 divisions higher than Floyd, right? Floyd has fought in 2 more divisions than Cotto. Cotto is much bigger than Floyd and was never really a 140 pounder anyways. He was a WE fighting there. He was 157 on fight not for 140 pound fights while Floyd even now is only 150 but fighting at 154. Please stop hating

This has really nothing to do with Floyd, so the captain saving a ducking cherrypicking ho was not warranted here.
