I hope he wins, too. Martinez/Golovkin is a fight that needs to happen. Either the new kingpin takes control or the aging kingpin adds another great win to his legacy, either way the sport is better for it.

Never cared much for Martinez and always loved Cotto but this fight is hard for me to get a handle on. Cotto's big problem is indeed that he is giving up natural size in this fight to a guy who can move around the ring. The problem being that Cotto has few advantages, he can box well but cannot catch Martinez on the outside, and if he does get inside he cannot really bully Martinez.

Unless I am missing something Cotto is coming into this fight slower, smaller, and with less reach than Martinez.

To say that Martinez has looked old his last fight is to assume that a professional athlete....a soccar star and boxer, cannot properly make an adjustment in training to account for being at his best against an opponent who would inspire most to be at the top of their game....I never buy that logic. Marvela might indeed get old in the ring it happens, but who can predict with certainty when?

it's not the only way. I'd bet if martinez lost he'd want a rematch though. if he lost badly, which i don't see happening, he'd jump at the chance for a ggg fight.

Sergio is the one who has to watch out not to be dropped by Miguel! If Cotto catches him, it could turn very ugly very quickly.

I know Martinez can punch, but he has never faced a boxer the caliber of Cotto. Yes, he beat the living crap out of Julio, but he has no defense, blocks punches with his face and was chasing Sergio all around the ring.

On the other hand, Cotto is a master a cutting the ring, great ring generalship, has defense and can box.

I see this fight even with a very slight edge to Martinez due to size/reach and power but if Sergio makes a mistake, he will make him pay! He better keep his hands up vs Cotto !

I back my boy all the way! Cotto got this, War Cotto!

Martinez destroys Cotto unless he's shot.

And if Cotto wins then Mayweather's going to go straight for that MW title which no one really wants to see.
