Despite the PPV numbers, more people have seen the Gatti Ward fights then those Hopkins Taylor fights. I know people at work that know almost nothing about boxing, but they know about the Gatti vs Ward trilogy. Why else would Gatti and Ward be featured so strongly in EA Sports fight night series? Hell, I was in a bar last night and TSN was replaying Gatti vs Damgaard and everyone was watching.Originally posted by DUPLICITYGatti has a rabid cult following, and a larger fan base who watches his fights when available. True.
At no point has he been a HUGE draw or the type of PPV attraction that justifies "he helped bring people back to watching boxing".
When was that? Between the Tyson and Delahoya and Trinidad and Holyfield and Lewis blockbusters?
Dude, EACH of the Hopkins-Taylor snoozers sold more than The Gatti-Mayweather PPV. Careful that you don't overstate Gatti's commercial appeal.
edit: Gatti and Ward are on the cover of the Xbox and Playstation2 versions of Fight Night Round3.sLast edited by Red_Menace; 02-12-2006, 09:47 PM.Comment

2 division champ (the IBA is not a real title)
if guys like braddock, mcguigan, and johansson can get it, gatti sure as hell can, too
one of the most exciting fighters in history
one of the biggest fan bases in decades
yes, gatti will be in the HOF.
RED MENACE,
I was responding to Evil Saint's moronic statement that Arturo Gatti is the "biggest box office draw since Mike Tyson".
That statement is so wrong as to be laughable.Comment

Just checked the site out. Got to be the ****tiest website ever. Crap design. No search faciility. Looks like a basic/amatuer designed site. Terrible. Cant see any pictures/photos of fights/fighters/their greatest moments captures on photo. Terrible. Terrible.Originally posted by TheEvilSaintComment

I agree. There have been many fighters since Tyson that had bigger followings.Originally posted by DUPLICITYRED MENACE,
