Imo he'd probably just pull out of whatever fight he had lined up. He'd likely get notice early as PPV fights take time to promote.

Chavez fights in March... and if they wait until maybe April to pick, that's like a month or so until Ward's fight and they would've been on the promotional track by then.... and if Ward did drop out... that's bad munition for Goosen to use.

Fair point, although Froch is likely to be ruled out by then (imo). If Arum is to be believed it will be Golovkin or Ward.
It's going to be Froch because he's the only one who will force himself to take the fight. Chavez camp is dodging GGG and Ward won't move down for that fight and I don't think the Chavez camp will want it either.
