Martinez has never faced a fighter with the foot speed, hand speed of Cotto and that will make a big difference. He has trouble with slower taller fighters. Miguel Cotto will be a nightmare for him.
Pavlik and Chavez Jr BOTH huge couldn't syrup Martinez so Cotto, no chance. Cotto can't out box Martinez. Martinez has a very good jab. He out jabbed a great jabber Sergei (however you spell his last name) Martinez is going to beat Cotto down.

Based on what?? That fact that Cotto was outboxed by Trout? Abused by MP?
Made to look ultra slow by FMJ....

Now he's dealing with someone who has the guile of Mayweather, sneaky power of MP, and the length of Trout. All three wrapped up in one.
It's going to be either a long,or a short night for Cotto. I think Sergio will let Cotto decide how it will end as far as his aggression will take him...

Add to the fact that Cotto is with the offensive minded Freddie Roach. He's going to be wide open and Martinez is going to land heavy punches to Cotto's face.

I think 147 was Cotto's best weight. I read somewhere he said the weight was a problem for him? 154/160 is out of his league.

Yep, Cotto's hand speed is faster than PW. And Cotto is taller than Pavlik too.
Yes, Martinez had so much trouble with those two slower taller guys....
Yep, we know what happened to those two.
            Guess who's next???

Pavlik was drunk and Chavez was high lol. Seriously, Pavlik and Chavez are both much slower than Cotto and neither possesss his inside game. Truth is Sergio has never been in the ring with a fighter the caliber of Miguel Cotto. Cotto stops Martinez.

Cotto is more technically sound than Martinez is. Martinez is a fighter who relies on angles and reflexes. He is a Roy Jones type fighter just not as good. Martinez gets hit a lot by lesser fighters than Cotto. Cotto is the best fighter Martinez has ever faced. Martinez is not the best fighter Cotto has ever faced. Martinez is nowhere near as fast as Pacquiao, hes not as good defensively as floyd and trout and length has never bothered Cotto who has a long history of putting beatdowns on taller men. This fight is actually more interesting than some may recognize. Martinez has got speed and sneaky power. Cotto has a thudding jab that he times better than most. Timing trumps speed. Does Cotto have the power to take Martinez out? Nope, he never has. He knocked people out by accumulation of punishment. Martinez ribs will be there for the taking if cotto is offensive minded, which Roach likes. If cotto sleeps on Martinez power, it's going to be short night for him. They both are getting up there, Martinez moreso as he's been plagued with injuries as of late. If martinez' knees do not hold up he wont be bouncing all over the ring.

                      Yep you're right.
He beat the shop worn Margarito, who we all know took Coto to hell & back.
But other than that who of note has Miguel beat that was long an skillful?
Clottey? we know that was a TR gift to Coto.
Don't sleep on Segio's boxing skills, power, & intelligence in the ring.
Remember who is the bigger man here, the power at this weight class, and once Miguel feels the power from the natural bigger man, he might get the Margarito beat down in his head, and quit again....
