Originally posted by ColdBloodedWith possible exception of Dzinziruk, those guys were all better than Cotto at middleweight. They were legitimate, top 10 guys (Barker would become one). Cotto is not a real middleweight, and he's not as accomplished at 160 as any of them. Dzinziruk was arguably more accomplished at 154 than Cotto.Originally posted by ColdBloodedAt middleweight, they're probably a higher caliber of fighter than he is.

It's doubtful that Cotto will even be top 10 material at middleweight. The guys Martinez has been fighting have been top 10 material at middleweight (except for Dzinziruk, he was one of the best junior middleweights at the time). I don't see how a B+ level junior middleweight poses the same kind of threat at middleweight as top class middleweights do.

Originally posted by L3TH4LMartinez is on his way down, his legs are never going to be the same, his mobility and conditioning will suffer because of it. Look for him to sit down and load up on his punches from the jump, he's going to look for the early finish because it's his best chance of winning. If he fails to hurt Cotto or put him away in the first half of the fight, it's all going to be downhill from there.
I'm going with Cotto by TKO in the 10th round.

Martinez's legs are never going to be the same, his mobility and conditioning will suffer because of it. Look for him to sit down and load up on his punches from the jump, his best chances of winning is by KO/TKO in the first half. If he fails to hurt Cotto badly or put him away early, it's all going to be downhill from there.

Open workout v. Martinez:
This Cotto looks nothing like the one Mayweather fought, I thought he'd be even more pudgy at 159.
