Couple things from the 24/7. The Martinez that whooped Pavlik and P.williams, probably(because nothing is certain in boxing) would beat this version of Cotto. That said Martinez looks really soft, not sure when this footage was filmed but in every scene he looks far softer than I have ever seen him. Not good.....
On the other hand Cotto does look renenergized, happy, fierce and in great shape. I think we will have ourselves a war people. One thing about Sergio he has a champions heart even if Father Time has caught up with him.Last edited by freedom213; 06-01-2014, 10:44 AM.Comment

Thats a valid point and only comes into play if Martinez needs his legs aka his usual fighting style to win. I think he might but I could be wrong.Comment

Is Cotto a good technician? Well, he is more of a slugger but he definitely has boxing abilities.
When it comes to footwork, Cotto always seems to put pressure very well for some rounds and then loses it.
I believe the reason why Martinez will be his experience and the fact that he is a very awkward technician.
This fight reminds me a bit ( just a little) of the Vitali Klitschko-Chisora fight. The slugger gets countered badly against the awkward technician ( even when the technician fights with a torn shoulder ligament for 8 rounds).
Martinez might have shot legs or problems with his back/shoulder, I think he would still win.Comment

Well, it's always very difficult to beat a taller southpaw, especially when the latter is a master technician. To beat these types of fighters you have to be a good technician and have a decent footwork.

I forgot to mention one of the parts I really liked in this episode was in the beginning. They showed Cotto the quote from Roach making the point that Cotto has no trainer, Cotto was the trainer and that was one of his biggest faults, then Cotto agrees. And wonders out loud what would have happened had he gotten with someone like Roach much earlier. Thats a big pill to swallow.Comment
