If you all look at compubox GGG lands at 41% and gets hit at 25%...41% is the 2nd highest connect percentage and +16 is also 2nd...getting hit at 25% is not that bad for someone with his style...Ward connects at 38% and gets hit at 24%...so only 1% more does Golovkin get hit more then Ward...with his style and his chin thats darn good...Comment

He could pull off a 25% facing Quillin and Martinez, Chavez Jr and some top guys at 168 too then color me impressed.Comment

I was doing both. If I was just watching GGG I wouldn't notice what Adama was doing.
GGG showed good upper body movement but I wouldn't say his defensive footwork was stellar. GGG's "answer" was to mostly just trade with him and that's what I'm talking about. GGGs jab is too good to have to resort to trading jabs or running straight into them by just bending his waist some. Adama didn't have any power of follow up behind the jab, so GGG was fine but lets not pretend that Adama wasn't outboxing him here and there. Yes, I'd rather be GGG at the end of each round because he did more damage, but hes eventually going to fight someone who can hurt him with all the opportunities he's providing. You think if he fights ward or quillin he'll get them in such a small ring? He tried to at times cover up, move his head a bit but he wasn't throwing and being kept at bay mostly while doing just that. Look, I think GGG is or at least appears to be the man at 160, but there's not much for him there he'll have to move up eventually if he wants to quell some doubts and I'm not sure he's defensively sound ENOUGH to favor him clearly over guys who can crack and take his power.
I'm exaggerating when I say things like he has "zero" defense. What's implied by that is that he doesn't seem to possess ENOUGH defense. Now, again...it could be his level of competition but someone nicely put it "gets three knock downs and the stoppage" with people not thinking it was a great performance or something like that... that's the point. The guy you're supposed to stop shouldnt be looking like a world champ in between all that...
DISCLAIMER: I don't think Quillin beats him... but the fight seems closer to me all of a sudden.
GGG was never in a rush, never had to jump in, never had to run back off balance. Adama did.
He knows he has the chin to take it, so he creates more opportunities for himself. He traded not getting hit for counter opportunities, and it paid.
This is part of adjusting to your opponent. Not fighting the same robotic way.
Im sure that if we saw a renouned puncher in with GGG, we would see the necessary defense ala Klitchko who built a great defense out of necessity because of his chin.
Someone else posted compubox stats and compared with wards. Thats the type of thing we're talking about here.Comment

I like GGG, hes a great fighter and has some amazing power. But from watching this fight I don't think he's ready for Ward anytime soon. Though his punches are hard and compact, and his balance is always on point, he was getting hit with some pretty telegraphed shots from Adama. Only thing is Adamas punches had ZERO pop to them. If GGG fights a fighter who can withstand the power, move around the ring, and has some decent power themselves then we will really see how good GGG can be. This fight didnt really prove anything except the fact that someone of the Adama class can hit GGG. Ward would have GGG confused in there and unless he could land a one hitter quitter, he would end up looking like Canelo vs Floyd.
What a brilliant performance from Golovkin in a dangerous fight against a guy who has never been stopped before. 3 knockdowns and he made it look easy.
Who is going to step up and fight this wrecking ball at 160?
Sorry to the haters, you have to tune in April 26th for your next chance to pray to god GGG loses!Comment

Ppl saying 'yeah but if he couldnt take or shot or have that power then he'd be in trouble...' Problem is, he DOES have that power and that chin. Its like saying 'if pac didnt have that speed or may didnt have that defense then they would be in trouble!' Duuuhhh.....Comment
