Our entertainment gets them paid though, kind of a circular argument
I hate the phrase "boxers risk their lives for our entertainment!"

Hahaha.........Originally posted by DeadLikeMeI agree. They know what they're getting into. Same as calling people in the military heroes even if all they did was shovel snow in Buffalo, NY.
I find this funny cause that's how I defended our country today. Shoveled snow for 2 hours and went home.

ThisYou get money just for turning up, clearly there is the element within the fighter that makes the fighter, you want to win for yourself, for your fans/loved ones, and most won't quit for this reason...even if they are in risk of serious or permanent injury. This all includes entertaining the fans too. The more fans you have, generally the more money you make...so of course you want to entertain. Clearly, a motivation of prize fighting in itself is money. But you can't discount most fighters' souls either.

Boxers get paid and know what they are getting themsleves into when entering this line of work.
But they do risk their lives for their paydays.Comment

The only people that really say this is that clown Larry. Other than that, I'd bet most people agree with you. Boxing is possibly safer than being an electrical lineman.

They are risking their lives~ and they are in the entertainment field.
Just because it is a profession and they make money at is doesn't really change anything. They know the risks (or at least they should) going in, but come on boxing is full of macho ****y dudes, no one like that thinks something like that will ever happen to them~.
Take firemen, they know the risk but they are getting paid (and getting mad harlots if they want) to do their job does that make them less of something when they save a family from a burning building? Just because that is their job~Comment

Not every boxer gets paid. Most boxers have jobs on the side just to survive.
Get in the ring before you talk. I can't think of any occupation more painful than boxing, not a single one.
I ****ing hate this Floyd generation of boxing. No respect whatsoever.
Life is more than just money. I could give a **** about money i'm not going to take it with me when I die, I just want to live an honorable life, and I'm not the only one.Last edited by DARKSEID; 01-31-2014, 04:06 PM.Comment
