But today's version? Hasn't done anything since he loss to Berto in 2009.

He doesn't have "Good" power, he has decent power, at very best. He's far far far from a hard puncher.

The guy was beaten comfortably by Freddy Hernandez a few years ago. Freddy Hernandez.

You're telling me that today's Collazo wouldn't be an easy fight for any WW today yet he was a pretty easy fight for Freddy Hernandez.

    Get with reality.
... "was beaten comfortably by Freddy Hernandez"?

Well it doesn't look like this:
"judge: Patrick Connolly 93-96 | judge: Jonathan Davis 93-96 | judge: Marshall Walker 93-96...
Collazo down in rd 8 from body shot"

    • Ortiz just doesn't have the stones at the elite level. As soon as he realizes he can't intimidate or bully a guy, he looks for a way out.

      • Congratulations to Collazo, who has had some set backs but he's always been a very game fighter. Back when he fought Hatton at 47, no matter how you scored that fight, he succeeded in making Ricky look quite average at the weight. Did the same thing to Berto, but never did get that break through victory. Well now he has, and cong**** to hm cause he deserves it for his hard work.

Watching the fight on replay, knowing the outcome, I just kept thinking Collazo looks strong, physically (at least in comparison). While Ortiz, although chiseled, looked like the weaker man. Probably doesn't relate in any way to the knockout, but Ortiz looked anxious, never got the chance to relax and that left was too wide (as Paulie mentioned). he's always been a wide puncher and he got caught for it.

        • i watched the bruins game last night, so i had to DVR this hoe. i was a good boy, and didn't go to bscene until after i saw the fight early this morning.

collazo was crying like a grown man. respect. he's been a hard working fighter for a long time. he drove a bread truck in brooklyn for years while training for fights at or around the world level. driving a big truck in brooklyn would f#cking suck!

that fight is going to get collazo at least one more big fight. i can also imagine that it felt great to get a chance to do that at home. that crowd was very big. putting a card on during superbowl week was a smart idea. goldenboy seems to do things well in BK. i was impressed when i saw danny garcia fight.

that was a great counter right hook from collazo. ortiz walked [punched] right into it.

ortiz should think about retirement. that's three stoppage losses in a row, including a broken jaw.

Go and watch the fight perhaps?

            He won clearly.

            • I agree with Paulie's commentary Ortiz came in a little bit too eager, and wound up on the wrong side of the sharper shots of Collazo. Fair play to Collazo this was a good win for him and you can't discredit what he did. But being honest, Victor could have got up. Yes, the hook shook him right down to his boots and had him on shaky legs...Ortiz was hurt no doubt, but he wasn't 'knocked out' type of hurt.

He could have got up and recovered on his stool in between the rounds. Look again once the 10 count was completed it only took him about thirty seconds to get up and walk over to Collazo talking and hugging etc, he was ok in no time at all...

He could have gotten up guys. I prefer not to call fighters quitters unless it's blindingly clear, but Ortiz has now claimed to be too young to get a bad beating from Maidana, was all smiles and not a care in the world when Floyd KO'd him and now he sits and accepts a 10 count after being rocked by Collazo...Come on.

I think all fans should stop calling pro boxers bums...u don't hear that word used too often for other sports, and they're not in there w/ the imminent risks and dangers that boxers are.

Luis would be a tough fight for any ww...not saying I'd favor him to beat a lot of them, considering its the deepest division at the moment...but like someone else said, we'll see, i'm sure golden boy will reward him w/ a good opportunity.
What are these solid losses? When Andre Berto sparked him in one round or when Lara dominated him? Or which?

People are actually talkin up Hernendez now ridiculous.

Collazo would be a tough fight for any WW today? What alternative universe am i living in?!

                • i'm not sure if he quit. his punch recovery is just not there. when he's hurt he is done. the broken jaw may have sealed his fate & he never recovered. the same thing happened to razor Ruddock after Tyson broke his jaw. he just couldn't recover after get hit hard. maskaev is another name that comes to mind. all solid offensive fighters but when in trouble they just can't recover... too bad...

                    ------------------------------------------------------------------

I said losses to top fighters, not tough losses - but you can twist the words around if it makes you feel more confident in your opinion.

No one is really talking up Freddie - it was in response to some fan on the computer calling him a bum. No one who has earned the opportunity to step in the ring with guys like Lara and Berto is a bum. And don't say Berto is a bum, he may not have reached the potential some people set for him but few boxers who got the backing he did have.

And yes Collazo is a seasoned vet, he's not gonna lay down for anyone. Sure he would be relatively easy work for floyd but so is almost any boxer alive

                    • Let's not talk up Collazo now, he beat a guy who falls apart at the highest level, time and time again.

In all honesty, I feel for Ortiz, he seems like an ice guy but he can never seem to stand up to the test. He actually looked better against Floyd lol
