I don't know what "utter bollox" means. But "lobbying" does not put a man under any other's authority. Are you suggesting that because George made a request to the "IBF", instead of directly to Carl, that George is now obligated to fight "under their rules?" I am suggesting Carl and George fight under their own rules and go tell "IBF" to shove off.

If you're the mandatory challenger, then you get the fight with no rematch clause or no options.

That's what Groves is now getting because the IBF reinstated him as mandatory. But of course, he is getting less money.
The IBF installed Froch as number 1 contender after the Ward loss, and therefore mandatory for the belt

Immediate rematches are just extras added onto a contract for the champion if he has leverage to do so, mandatory/voluntary or not. It's more normal to do so for a mandatory as the belt would not have a mandatory contender for it for the fight afterwards

Froch and Groves are under IBF authority as the IBF are sanctioning the fight. Froch would have to drop his belt in order for them to play by their own rules

Groves lobbied the IBF to get the rematch. The IBF accepted his appeal and ordered the rematch. So how can they not fight under the IBF?

You may be right. I think the rematch clause was put in because Bute agreed to travel to the UK.

But mandatories aren't obligated to give rematches. For example, Kell Brook turned down Bradley because he'd have to sign a rematch clause/options whereas he became mandatory to Alexander where there would have been no rematch clause.

Why bother with a sanctioning body at all? Why not give them back their silly belt. Carl and George are the performers; the promoter must have their cut as their's is venture capital, but Carl and George would be making money for the sanctioning body at no benefit to them. I suggest Carl and George and the promotion company tell the sanctioning leaches to go suck someone else's...

This isn't correct. Bute had just fought his mandatory and chose Froch as a voluntary defense as part of a two fight deal that included Froch going to Canada in an immediate rematch, win or lose.

Don't think Froch was even rated with the IBF before the fight, but he had certainly never fought an eliminator for a mandatory shot at the title.

Immediate rematches are not part of the contract if the mandatory challenger receives his purse. He might settle for a good deal and accept an immediate rematch as many have chosen before - but standard procedure is that a mandatory defense doesn't include an immediate rematch clause.

Groves appealed to the IBF himself and became the mandatory so they have no choice unless Froch wants to be stripped of his title which he doesn't.

Maybe if you had worked your entire life to become a world champion, you might have looked on this matter differently. Groves has stated from the beginning that he wants a world title shot - it just happened to be against Froch.

These guys are not in Floyd Mayweather's position where they can just drop belts and still get the money and the right fights. It doesn't work like that.
