Yeah definitely makes sense now, why would he want to join the same promotions which clearly made their intention of mugging him?
Signing with Matchroom is not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion. Sky is clearly the best platform for Groves imo, and he could be a major PPV star if he beat Froch in a rematch.

Not sure they have the intention of mugging him, they just want to tie him down. The immediate rematch clause shouldn't be there either imo. This one should be the decider, win or lose, for both parties.

It's clear that Groves has had some offers from big american promoters who seem to believe they can possibly build him up as the next challenger to Ward, and rightly so. Say he beats Froch, with the backing of GBP, he could get a fight vs Bika - a very winnable fight. Then he would be the consensus #1 in the division and would be set for a pretty big fight vs Ward (possibly in the UK) on Showtime/HBO and Sky PPV. I'm not sure those options are there with Matchroom, but it is what it is.

They are a business too, and Groves is a hot commodity. It's only natural they want to tie him down.

There's a "reservation" over Bika's WBC belt... Chavez Jr. is to get it...

Doesn't make financial sense for Groves to join GBP, Top Rank et al. He'll never be a PPV star in the 'States.

Its Matchroom or back to Frank Warren

Well there's two sides to that story. The regular Showtime/HBO show pays a lot more than a regular Sky show. He might be a PPV star in the UK, and he can be, but not to the extent where all of his fights are on PPV - I don't think that's possible.

I'm not sure. I have a feeling he'll go the Goosen route or someone like that. It's just a feeling, especially as he rejected Mathroom's first offer of a contract + a fight.

I truly doubt he'll go back to Warren. That would be a major step backwards.

wankers in here saying he shud have taken the 25 % lol

the contract came with a immediate rematch and a fight deal under hern promotions

Groves wud have been a mug to take such a offer, especially giving him 1 day to think about it

Froch isnt one bit confident that he will beat Groves, thus he wants a immediate rematch clause

A rematch clause is standard fare when you make a voluntary defence of your title against someone who is not the mandatory.

He should just take the 15 and make more next time with a win. I dont think chaves would even fight froch anyway
