Exactly what do you guys have against this man?

Give him a chance to prove his worth as a fighter.

The sactioning bodies rankings are irrelevant. He's unranked by any global Top 10 LHW list.

I'm bashing the fight not Agnew. I'm sorry but just because I'm a fan of Kovalev doesn't mean I'm going to support it when he takes fights are a joke such as this one.

Kovalev shouldn't be fighting this caliber of fighter he just had an easy fight in his last fight. I tell it like it is I don't give guys a pass just because I'm a fan.

Cloud and Dawson are on their way down, Dawson was been stopped in his past two fights. People would be angry if Kovalev fought Dawson now.

Chilemba was beaten by mediocre Bellew, who lost to Stevenson and Cleverly.

Agnew is undefeated - why not give him HIS opportunity? Others have had theirs.

They're still two of the top LHWs, yeah they both lost to other top LHWs, what does that matter? They would still be solid fighs for Kovalev. Much better than Agnew obviously.

As would Chilemba. He has two close fights with Bellew who's also a top ranked LHW.

Chilemba's a good solid fighter, ranked, and would definitely be a solid fight.

Agnew doesn't deserve an opportunity because he hasn't earned it. He's done nothing to get a shot at one of the best LHWs in the world and it's a joke of a fight.

Like I said I don't give guys a pass just because I'm a fan.

Anyone that's in the Top 10 would have been acceptable for Kovalev.

You seem to have a particular dislike for Cedric Agnew. All boxers need to step up sometime.

Who did Kovalev beat before Campillo? Who did Stevenson beat before Dawson? Who did Dawson beat before Adamek?

I have nothing against Agnew I just know he's not very good.

And other than Stevenson-Dawson none of those situations are similar I this one.

Kovalev and Stevenson are at a point in their careers where a crossroads fight between them both is fast approaching and everyone knows it. It is with this that comes the feeling from the fans that whoever they fight is a pointless fight unless it is each other. Which I understand to a degree.

But what I also understand is that if they aren't going to get into it right now or very soon then they need to keep fighting, and winning, in order to keep their potential match hot. They are in a sort of 'damned if you do, damned if you don't' situation...They need to fight at some point but it isn't going to be soon, so therefore fights need to be had in the meantime that don't run the risk of ruining a huge fight in the not so distant future. It is either carry on carrying on or sit and wait for each other.

What I am trying to say is, this isn't too bad a fight and for those complaining about it what else did you expect given the bigger picture? I am down for this fight taking place coz I can see the bigger play that is supposed to unfold after it, and that should be ok don't you think?
