I like Garcia but style wise he loses this one. I can see Yuri's in and out style being too much for Garcia to keep up with not to mention his lateral movement. I don't see Mikey winning and not because either man is better or worse just a stylistic thing.

Anybody wonder why 50 doesn't send them a contract ? He is a promotor and has the money , this seems like a good fight to build his own show around . To me it seems like it would be worth a try just to further his promoting credentials ...

I remember watching a program, years ago, with NY sports personality Mike Francesa. He said that he "honestly believed" Orlando "El Duque" Hernandez was "one of those rare athletes" that got bored if a game wasn't on the line. Hernandez was one of the greatest big-game pitchers in baseball history, but he sometimes got battered in meaningless games.
We may never see the Yuri that tore through Solis again, but I think Garcia will motivate Gamboa to dig deep and channel "El Ciclon" one more time. Yuri's career depends in it, and he knows it. How's that for a sense of urgency?
El Duque was the man, my stepfather knew him personally, he used to play for los Metropolitanos in Cuba. We have a few pics with El Duque plaqued.
Back on topic, I agree that urgency is important but I still have hard time figuring out that if you take punches for a living and there is a guy standing across you wanting to knock the daylight out of you why wouldn't you feel this? Motivation and the utmost sense of urgency should always be part of any boxers game-plan.

I used to like watching Francesa when he was with Chris Russo (The "Mike and the 'Mad Dog' Show") in NY. After they parted ways and went national, I lost interest in both. lol My brother likes Dan Le Batard.
I think it's different for some of these world-class boxers. A guy like Gamboa, cocky as he is, thinks no one can hurt him. If he's touched, the monster is awakened. I hate to admit it, but I've always had that tendency in (non-boxing) competition myself. Maybe it's a Cuban thing. lol

He was able to come back from all those KD's, pretty amazing stuff but he needs to watch Mikey's straight right. He gets tagged with one of those might be lights out.Last edited by damit305; 01-26-2014, 01:09 PM.

I think its genius that they have been showcasing Mikey in NY and selling out the theatre with 5k people against Burgos who isnt a draw is a huge accomplishment. Of course most his fights are gonna be west coast but people forget Mexicans are ALL OVER THE.COUNTRY.
Ive lost interest in Gamboa after the Farenas fight. I actually hope he gets knocked out. I remember hyped during the Farenas fight and a bunch of my boys didnt watch boxing so I was selling Gamboa telling them when hes on hes on fire but lately hed been falling off, I rold them he was gonna murder Farenas tho and schooled them on the prestige of cuban boxing...and then he went out and fought like that. My boys were like dog I literally never wanna see this guy fight again lololololol.
Mikey was at least dominant and Burgos wasnt coming to fight.
Would love to see the fight happen though especially if yuri realises that hes merely AN OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST!! Dog your Cuban, bad b!tches, money , gold and good food is all the motivation you need.
