    He looks special fighting the lower tier of fighters. Very ordinary against opposition. Russel looks special but still to this day hasn't stepped up his competition.

      russel jr's hands might be faster than gamboa's, but he doesn't hit with a ton of power, or have the insane fluidity or footwork that gamboa had in his prime and at 126 and 130.


      gamboa's athletic quality really was something else when he first entered boxing. russel jr has a much more sustainable style, but i wouldn't call his athletic talent "special" on a tier with gamboa's.


      gamboa had freakish fluidity and power in addition to his speed. he didn't even look like he had to try hard to move fast or hit hard.

      supreme talent, and a huge waste. f#ck the amateurs.

          I do recognize Gamboa's talents but it never lived up to expectations. Not saying that Russel is better than him but he does have that crazy hand speed that is sustained all fight long
