Rigondeaux and Ward are both far more special fighters than Gamboa ever was.

He got bored. He was one of those fighters who stopped paying attention after a certain point and needed to get smacked hard to refocus.

i don't think he had great defense outside of the fact that he was flat out faster than anybody he'd fight. guys like that can't be considered great defenders, IMO, unless they really don't get caught flush[roy jones in his prime comes to mind there. he actually had solid fundamentals with distance and balance.] gamboa used to get caught and hurt, and still does.

i'm pissed that we never got to see him fight juanma. that's a FOTy candidate on paper if i've ever seen one.

i think gamboa would get off the deck to stop juanma in their primes. today, gamboa beats that ass like shot juanma stole the bike.

the TS is talking about talent.

they're great boxers. they don't have the pure athleticism that gamboa had. rigondeaux is closer than ward. they have special skills. gamboa had special talent.

ward's an athletic guy, but he's not even the best athlete from his olympic class. dirrell was faster, hit harder, is a sharper puncher.

Yeah im talking about his talent and ability to make things look easy. Ward, Bradley, Danny, Tigo,GGG., Bradley. ... All those guys may be better at strategy but you can see them working hard in the ring to execute. Gamboa, like Floyd, like Pac, and like Roy Jones just had "it" where they made it look easy.

He has been athletically gifted superior fighter since his gold medal days but his temperament never allowed him to be technically gifted as well as other guys out there are.

I remember the first time I saw him I could not believe how fast he was, I was so blown away by him. I feel like in the last couple of fights I have seen him in I find myself looking for something to be blown away by but I just can not find it. Maybe it has just been his level of opposition. I am really hoping his fight with Mikey Garcia comes about so we can see what he really has
