Trout had to bow down because he was unknown, and he was really fortunate Cotto even offered him the fight. Trout couldn't believe he was getting the fight himself. Trout had no leverage other than he was the champion. He had to bow down.

Sergio Martinez is a much different situation. He has leverage. He doesn't have to bow down to many of Cotto's demands. He'll have to concede to some things, but he can tell Cotto to **** off on a lot of things.

Rios loses and he gets to fight Manny instead of Alvarado. Khan is wack, but he might get to fight Floyd over Thurman, Porter, and Garcia. It's like name recognition beats actual performance. Martinez should be calling shots. Bradley should be calling shots. Things just ain't right in boxing right now.

Pretty much this^^^, Trout use the way his family was treated by Team Cotto to motivate himself and it paid off. Martinez should do the same because in reality Cotto is the bigger name.

I was looking forward to this fight, be a shame if negotiations fall through. I would have also looked foreword to Cotto-Canelo though. Big Cotto fan.

As for this one I dont know who wins, the Cotto we saw last time out will most likely not be the one who fights at a higher weight against Martinez. Also it depends if Martinez is still effective after recoveries and a long layoff. A lot of variables and 'what ifs' to this fight, it is an interesting one, so it would suck if they dont make it
