Comments Thread For: Sergio Martinez and Gabriel Sarmiento Will Reunite

Sources close to the information have informed BoxingScene that Gabriel Sarmiento will once again work with Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) for his next fight, possibly against Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs) on June 7th at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Martínez will still be trained by Gabriel’s brother, Pablo, however the man who guided ‘Maravilla’ to the world title will be working alongside him.

Fun fact: Gabriel Sarmiento trained Fernando Quintero, the guy who was robbed against Adrian Broner. He was still keeping his identity a secret at the time.

Too bad he's a trainer and not a doctor. Martinez is done with those injuries.

I hope Sergio comes in great shape and ready to fight on June 7th because I know Miguel Cotto will be.

Last time Cotto ran into a tall SouthPaw who had decent boxing ability do we remember what happened? Thats right folks, a loss to Austin Trout... and Sergio is miles ahead of Austin. If Sergio is the Sergio we all know he's going to give Miguel the Business.

If I recall correctly, Gabriel Sarmiento is very good with strategy. I heard he came up with the strategy Martinez used to beat Paul Williams. With Sarmiento in his corner, Martinez will probably have a really good gameplan against Cotto. In other words, Cotto is in for a serious beating.
