i'm tellin' u all - hes getting these belts to gain advantage at the negotiating table so the fights can fall through and then say "see, they don't want to fight me, i'm the 2 division champ, i should make the lions share" ...
I know this fight does nothing to solidify his legacy in the eyes of rreal fans, but it is just his first American fight. He may have a ton of fights on his record, but he still needs to work his way up to a fight with mayweather or cotto. I can't blame him for building a resume and American fan base before looking for the big fights. I won't say you're wrong about his plans, but I see no reason not to give him the benefit of the doubt.

i suppose you are right. it may be all media but its just not looking all that great. i'm a hatton fan, i WILL be at his fight against baldy (if it has a decent undercard, connecticut is a 3 hour drive from me) ... i just don't like the names being thrown around now ... and he has the potential to turn into that guy because of the money hes used to making in the UK.

Why should Ricky be given a pass: "it's just his first american fight".??

How many British tuneup fights did Kostya Tszyu get? And Zoo fought at 2am local time. Or Carlos Maussa? Or Jeff Lacy for that matter?

Maussa came to the US from Colombia and fought Vivian Harris, and then flew to England to fight Ricky Hatton. TaTa Baldomir came to the US from Argentina and fought Zab Judah, and will take on another quality opponent in his next fight.

Why is it that people wanted Mayweather to go fight Ricky in England, but when Ricky comes to the USA, "Hatton needs tune-ups before facing Mayweather"??

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.
