Tony Weeks knew that fight needed to be stopped. The action at the time didn't warrant the stoppage, but Angulo was not doing anything to suggest he was capable of turning the fight around.
He was far behind on points and just didn't have the one punch power to end it with a bomb.
If he was rocked or hurt then yeah stop it, hell, even he landed a combination then stop it.
The guy landed a single shot that didn't hurt him and he stopped it.
Poor.
It was strange especially when you watch just the replay of it. He literally takes a telegraphed uppercut and the ref calls it off. It was a big shot, but he wasn't out on his feet.
I actually wouldn't have wanted to see Angulo continue and keep taking punishment, the timing of the stoppage was just awkward. Should've just let him finish the round and then stop it.
That uppercut that Canelo threw was telegraphed as ****, Jimmy Johns would have made it to your crib and back by the time it reached its destination. He was DONE at that point, just a walking dead man. Don't put this dude in a hospital bed for our bloodthirsty enjoyment. He needed to be saved from himself.
Actually, Canelo feinted with the right hand before he threw the left uppercut.
