      If they are not good and can't beat the aging stars then they will not become stars themselves.

      I have high hopes for Canelo because he beat some aging stars already and good fighters and old fighters who used to be good, Trout, Angulo is next, Rhodes, Cintron, Mosley, Gomez, Lopez, etc and he also has Cotto or Martinez on the horizon. Broner on the other hand, really has little hope, he will be an Andre Berto at best, only that Berto was more competitive in his losses.

        But if you don't have these guys that bring in more casual fans then no one gets more exposure.
        But how does that help us as fans of the sport?

          Broner and Canelo are about as different as they can be. Canelo is kind and respectful to everyone .Broner is a mean, disrespectful jackass that treats everyone with disrespect and trashes future opponents worse than any other fighter in the game. I will always wish the best for Canelo and the worst for Broner. Broner is a good fighter and a terrible person. Maybe the type of person he is does not matter to some but it matters to me. I can't root for Broner.

            Adrien Broner can go **** himself. I don't want that clown to be the face of the sport - we'll be rid of the current jackass by 2015, we don't need him replaced by a lame tribute act.

              Why do we need charisma whore no substance having stars? I rather have no ppv stars than a generation of boxers on ppv just because . I rather have guys that earned it no matter how long I have to wait, because support is one thing but buying ****ty fights you're supporting something else.

                The less we see of Broner, the better.

                  I am not a huge expert on PPV but my thoughts are;

                  Canelo - without good spoken English he is likely limiting himself to the Hispanic fan base. The ability to speak English is completely irrelevant in a boxing ring but does help build an image and persona to market a fighter. The same could be said of Cotto. Someone like Mayorga could be an exception in terms of marketability but he was never going to be PPV paydirt anyway.

                  Broner - I believe he is a personality above anything else, in boxing terms he was sold on his rapping and party lifestyle. When he lost his cherished '0' the game changed as now he needs to rebuild a boxing career, as a boxer first and foremost. The problem he may face is that as a boxer he is still limited in ability and has a loss relatively early in his career, both of which limit PPV appeal.

                  Tyson, FMJ, MP, ODH made big bucks on PPV because they are great fighters in the ring with big personalities outside it.

                  You just can't say that about Canelo Alvarez and Adrien Broner, albeit for different reasons.

                      2014 should prove who the frauds are. 2013 proved that Matthysse was totally overrated and he got put down for the first time and lumped up, and that Broner may not be good as advertised. 2012 proved that Pac without those Ariza shakes had a china chin all along.

                      It's a wait and see in 2014.
