Comments Thread For: Canelo Alvarez is Confident About Angulo PPV Sales

Canelo Alvarez has no doubt that many of the fans who helped him become part of the most profitable pay-per-view event in boxing history will buy his March 8 fight against Alfredo Angulo.

“I’m sure they will,” Alvarez said. “I have loyal fans and I’m very grateful for that. And they’re always going to be with me. And I feel that they’re going to support me through thick and thin and they’re going to follow me in this pay-per-view.”

This fight does 400,000 at most.

Good fight for Showtime, not ppv. I say it will do 280,000 ppvs.

I would expect his Mexican following to have dropped significantly after his cowardly display against Mayweather.

Mexicans like warriors, not guys who hope they'll catch their opponents otherwise just coast until the end.

Ppv, seriously. Showtime yes but ppv. I dont think it hits 250k buys. Im not going to fork up the $$$. Good matchup, should be exciting but not ppv worthy, and i am a canelo fan but no cheerleader.

Good for you.... I'm not since you want the other 2 fights to be PPV.

Simple economics,Marquez versus Bradley did in excess of 350,000 ppv buys and Canelo is a bigger name than both of them combined. GBP would be ****** not to have this on pay per view.

I don't hate Canelo, I just think he should engage more, he needs more machine gun in him, that is where he blew it with May jr but in this fight he won't be facing a runner but and engager and hell is coming with him.

Anything under 500k is a flop. That's how much Chavez Jr vs Martinez did right?

I agree completely. I don't see him becoming a major PPV attraction and would be surprised If this fight generates more then 300-400k after fighting like an amateur against Floyd.
