it was a beautiful counter, i think a lot of guys would've went down from that shot, not sure that makes him chinny tho.
Sergey Kovalev gets KTFO'd in the amateurs

Interesting video. He also got dropped by Boone but at least he didn't get KO'd like Stevenson.
Kovalev still over-commits his right hand and doesn't bring it back so he's definitely suceptible to left hook counters, but now he puts the straight left hand behind it and it's a powerful shot. So if you wait for his right hand and try to counter him with a left hook, he might still land first.Comment

Bump, Yall' must have forgot ... The strait Left from Stevenson will send TarzKovalev back to the jungle.

these sparring rumours are getting out of hand. Nobody ever claimed he knocked kovalev out in sparring ... just that kovalav wasn't giving them what they wanted from sparring.Comment

It may not be true but, Its not unbelievable though KOV would have been agressive like he always is, and GGG would had answered back. In the video KOV is wearing a head guard and the punch that land didn't even look hard, yet KOV he lost his senses before he hit the groundComment

Well you cant strengthen your chin, you can see him lose his senses before he hit the ground. He's wearing a head guard, and his opponents arms are not as big as Stevenson's.Comment

It was the Uzbek Abbos Atoyev who KOd Kovalev...
Abbos Atoyev (from the same "Soviet Block") is best known for winning gold in the light heavyweight competition at the 2007 World Championships and at middleweight in 2009.
Ismayl Sillah beat Atoyev easily as an amateur... So...
(The "Soviet school" boxers have very few things in common with your "slick boys".)Comment

I think that the Atoyev fight was back in 2007...
Kovalev wasn't even one of the most successful Russian fighters at the amateurs -- Matvey Korobov and Artur Beterberiev were better than Kov at that time...Comment
