I just finished watching the Bute-Pascal fight for the first time (Sky Sports Broadcast) and I scored it for Pascal 8 rounds to 3 with 1 round even.
I gave Bute rounds 3, 11 and 12.
I gave Pascal rounds 2,4,5,6,7,8,9 and 10
I scored round 1 even.
And I should mention that rounds 3 and 11 were close, actually round 3 was basically totally even but I still gave both of them to Bute.
So - here is Jim Watt's scorecard:
I have no idea what fight they were watching. Bute did nothing the whole fight. Pascal was the only one throwing real punches and real combos and he also landed quite a few of those punches. Was Pascal super active? No. But he landed basically all punches and especially all significant punches the whole fight. Bute was not throwing anything and landing next to nothing.
So - do some people really think Bute won this fight? I got the feeling that the british commentators scored for Bute to make Froch's win over Bute look better. Let's not forget - that was the win which catapulted Froch into the hall of fame (in the future I mean). - Froch was the underdog and Bute was regarded as a pretty great fighter. Now if Pascal - who lost to Froch in the past - beats Bute, then Bute all of a sudden looks very different according to a lot of people.
Honestly, I cannot quite understand how anyone thinks Bute came even close to winning this fight.
