Bernard could do absolutely nothing in that fight. Nothing at all. Look at him and tell me what success he had. He was getting hit flush with multiple punches after about round 6. Roy had him figured out by then and every time he came in he got peppered. Bernard is just one of the toughest fighters of all time so he kept coming.
No way he could of ever won more than 3-4 rounds against a Prime Roy. Nobody has every had the tools to do that. He was the closest and he wasn't even close and Bernard probably would of beaten every other middle weight in history including Ray Robinson.

It was impressive but Hopkins wasnt the same as he was in his MW reign. Hopkins was green and that was biggest step up to date at the time so although Roy looked phenominal it wasnt BHop at his absolute peak.

Don’t let B-Hop beating Tito and Oscar fool you into thinking he had a chance with a prime RJ. Also the Oscar fight was pretty competitive until he got stopped. Roy would have had both Oscar and Tito out of there the same night at middleweight.
Hopkins fans use the whole “too green” excuse so they can sleep at night.

Hopkins didn’t want it again, thats why he turned down the more than fair 60/40 offer from Roy, who was p4p the best at the time, more marketable, and already won a fight with Hopkins. It is a one of the biggest ducks in history of the sport, especially when he fought Roy almost 10 years later and gave Roy a 50/50 fight when Roy didn’t deserve it.

Roy says himself during the Hopkins/Allen 3 fight that he was a Lightheavyweight on fight night and Hopkins didn't gain any weight. Said he knew that going into teh fight, which is why he was so confident. Because he was bigger than everyoen at 160.
