Just watched Roy Jones vs Bernard Hopkins I Roy shut him out!!!

I just watched Roy Jones vs Bernard Hopkins and I can't give Bernard a single round. I have the first round as a draw, but after that Roy controlled the fight and Bernard only landed one clean punch in the 8th round the entire fight. Whats your take?




Note: Harold letterman had it 10-0 going into the final 2 where I think he mercy gave Hop the last two rounds. I say no way, Roy won the last two as well. He beat hop in the fashion Floyd beat Conelo accept easier, but Bernard was 10x more game than conelo and much better.

hopkins won maybe 3 rounds...........to be fair roy was a super human creature at that weight and age. (some people only remember the beyond shot roy that fought calzaghe)

RJJ schooled one of the best fighters of his generation, its fair to say it wasnt the best version of Hops then again, RJJ had an injured hand. Just goes to show you how good jones could be when he wanted to be.

I will agree with 3 or 4 rounds for Hopkins, though he wasn't at any point "Dominated" by any stretch of the imagination. He held his own in every round and wasn't getting toyed with like a lot of the other RJJ Youtube Highlight video victims.

They never truly faced each other at their absolute best. For Hopkins, his experiences are what made him better, not any athletic peak or prime. He wasn't there yet in that department. I won't deny that RJJ could perhaps always beat him by decision even at their best. Though perhaps a much narrower decision had they fought in the early 2000's after B-Hop defeated Tito. Certainly B-Hop's track record makes him entitled to that possibility.

However, Hopkins surpassed him just by shire attrition. If one is to safely conclude that Jones always edges him in theory at their absolute best, then B-hop wins the overall war by never having been knocked out and still being competitive at the Top level while Roy is in La-La land in Russia, playing around with a D-level fighter reliving his glory days.

No offense I like Hopkins, but I think people will always remember Roy as the more legendary fighter. Also Roy beat him in that fight with one hand. If there was a rematch in 2000s Roy would have beat him worse.

For people that say Hopkins was green at this time, he only had on loss then Roy, then didn’t lose until he fought Taylor. So I think Hopkins was just as good or not far off from where he was in the 2000s.

Also Hopkins ducked the Roy rematch and a Toney fight. The other 2 best fighters of his generation.

Roy was a god at that point, poor Hopkins never had a chance in this old world of even keeping it close.
