The reason why Maidana doesn't want an immediate rematch in April

Contursi points something very clearly in that interview: the rematch is possible, but the April dates are not. This seems to be definitive.
I don't believe the reason behind this is that Chino will be father in march. He said a few days ago that had the Floyd fight been agreed, he would be already training...
Contursi says also that Haymon was "much more prudent" in relation with the rematch, that there is much to negotiate and that Maidana will put a new rematch clause if this rematch materialize.
Conclusion: forget a Maidana - Broner rematch in April.

Thats what I think too. Maidana doesn't want a rematch right now, which is cool. But he's going to have to fight him again one way or another.

Yea. The belt has nothing to do with the contract.

I doubt it is. If it was, he wouldn't be complaining about he Floyd fight. The Floyd fight is the issue. The thing he doesn't get is if Floyd wanted to fight him, he would.

SOunds like schaeffer and Haymon are strong arming him. whats sad is most people would rather see a floyd/maidana fight then floyd/khan being discussed or the broner/maidana rematch, which is highly shady since everything I heard suggested there was no rematch clause.

What is clearly happening is that Floyd decided he wants to fight Khan, so they need to create an excuse as to why Maidana is not available for him to fight.

This makes sense and is the likely reason. Should they announce a floyd khan fight then we'll know for sure.
