Contursi said in the interview that after a Floyd fight, a rematch with Broner would be the best option out there. They want the fight, the only problem would be the date. Chino said before that the only one he would fight in those months is Mayweather, it would be the pay day of his life, can you blame him?

Maidana wasn't his mandatory. Thurman was the interim WBA champ and #1 contender.
I'm pretty sure I was having a conversation with PBP and we talked about how Thurman was Bradley's mandatory which means the WBO.

mandatory doesnt mean nothing. Alot of guys dont fight there mandatory. What if your boy Lucas was his mandatory? You wouldve sworn up & down that Broner wouldnt fight him. There is a reason why Maidana got with Haymon.
Oh no, he wouldve fought Matthysse too thinking they were cherrypicking like did they did Maidana but the result would be the same.

look, Maidana is doing nothing wrong here. He won clearly and fairly and the powers that be seem to be rewarding this by making himrematch quickly.

It reminds me of what we saw in the duran/leonard 30 for 30.

Contursi points something very clearly in that interview: the rematch is possible, but the April dates are not. This seems to be definitive.
I don't believe the reason behind this is that Chino will be father in march. He said a few days ago that had the Floyd fight been agreed, he would be already training...
Contursi says also that Haymon was "much more prudent" in relation with the rematch, that there is much to negotiate and that Maidana will put a new rematch clause if this rematch materialize.
Conclusion: forget a Maidana - Broner rematch in April.

I'd tell Shafer to go stick it and go to Top rank

                  Hypothetical-
If Chino says f'k it and throws the belt away, is he still contractually obliged to fight Broner?

IF a Mayweather fight was in the works, it would still be taking place in May so there isnt an issue.
