Comments Thread For: Angulo: Respect For Canelo, His Team Didn't Want Me

Junior middleweight contender Alfredo Angulo (22-3, 18KOs) is surprised that Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs) selected him for the March 8th Showtime Pay-Per-View main event, taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Angulo says he has a lot of respect for Canelo, explaining that the young superstar's team were against the fight, which presents a lot of danger. Canelo returns from a twelve round decision loss to Floyd Mayweather Jr. in September, while Angulo suffered a tenth round TKO to Erislandy Lara last June. Canelo wanted a boxer with Angulo's style, because he wanted a fight that produces fireworks for the paying public. [Click Here To Read More]

I do give Angulo a puncher's chance to upset Canelo cuz coming to think of it Angulo has to be the hardest hitter Canelo has ever fought which is sad that its happening now. Either of them CAN get it with Carlos Molina.

Angulo can still fight, he made a decision to quit and save his eye and his career. Now he's working again. Unlike Margarito who lost an eye and had to retire. I bet he's missing that ppv money he used to get. Angulo always dangerous.

There's a big difference between the way Angulo quit and the way Ortiz quit.

I like Canelo, he built up some skills and he really wants to test himself now.
Ok he got beat by Floyd, but apart from wizard Lara and maybe a motivated Cotto, I cant see him getting in too much trouble with anyone else at 154

In fairness to Canelo, he's tried to get dangerous fights before and has done now.

                  He personally asked for Trout.

He was signed to fight Williams, supposed to fight Ortiz. Not too sure on the Kirkland fiasco.

This fight now with Angulo is dangerous aswell.

hopefully hes able to crack canelo a few times at some point, but his face is most likely fragile now and will smash up again
