This is pretty much the situation.

Best fighters at 160lbs (in semi order) are Martinez (recovery then Cotto), Quillin (GB), Sturm (Murray), Murray (Sturm), Barker (recovery), Macklin (already beat), Geale (Wood).

I suppose there is Andy Lee, but he's looking to fight Macklin in the spring already. Andy Lee is already pushing it, but it looks like nobody decent will be available to fight GGG in April, so his best bet will be the Kirkland fight that HBO is rumored to want to make.

And the fans want it too. It was the most popular fight on that double header night, despite being the co main event to a weak main event (Rigondeaux vs punching bag). So clearly the fans love Kirkland.

I don't want this fight personally, but HBO probably sees Kirkland as more valuable than Geale or Lee for GGG and is going to do that.

Kirkland will probably be KO'd fast, he's very hittable and GGG isn't going to box himself out before the KO, unlike Angulo. GGG's power is just on another level (as is his speed/accuracy). And poor Kirkland will suffer yet another setback for his career, this one actually not being his fault.

What I don't understand is why Kirkland people would let him take the GGG fight? He's got a legit shot to KO Canelo, Lara, Molina, Andrade and any other fighter at 154. Why not go title hunting and build up a big fight with Canelo...

All the guys at 160 seem busy when it comes to fighting Golovkin soon.

I don't know one person outside of.this forum that could pick Gaele out of a lineup or probably ever heard of him. Kirkland has been on HBO numerous times and they usually are pretty damn exciting fights. GGG needs only Sergio on his record at 160, the rest are a bunch of Euro stiffs who stay in their own country and pass the cap belts amongst each other.

Geale was involved in a FOTY candidate on HBO that did good ratings last year. If Golovkin can do 1.6 or whatever with Curtis Stevens, ratings are no excuse.

No , it's not Gabe . It's the guy that watched cheaters like Chavez ,Trinadad , Margarito and others cheat with impunity for years while people like yourself cheered on the cheat . After watching fighters like Trinidad , boxing fans SHOULD be leery of power like his . But I guess it doesn't matter as long as a white fighter is winning !
