I've seen Whitaker make absolute fools of better fighters than Floyd's ever fought. I won't say there's no argument, because it very much is an argument, but doing something against a better level of competition will always win me over in such debates.

Also, Whitaker was so fun to watch, the way he'd stand right in front of guys and contort himself like a wacky inflatable arm flailing tube man.

The funny thing was that when Whitaker was active, fans (and other fighters) called him "boring" and a "runner" smh.

For practical use, Floyd. Better positioning to hit back where Pernell would sometimes be completely out of punching position. Pernell was hard to touch, but when you did touch him you could at least land flush. Floyd (according to his opponents) is apparently hard to hit and when they do, its rarely flush. I think Floyd's counter punching and harder punches should be taken into consideration for his defense as well. Pernell didnt hit as hard as Floyd...

A sublime as Pernell was, he had to transition to offense mostly (and at times not always greay he just got away with a lot due to speed) Floyd's defense is his offense mostly which I think is kind of the difference in preference for me

imo its hard to compare the two. they come from completely different schools of defense. if i had to go with my gut, id as pernell. simply because what he did was amazing that no1 could hope to emulate. floyd's skills and reflexes are certainly on par but his techniques can be emulated to some degree. no1 in their right mind would try to do the things pernell did.

Can you imagine if Pea was fighting now in this social media era?

It would be interesting to review "stats" like opponents connect percentage, opponents punches thrown per round and how it drops when fighting floyd or pernell, or some other sbaremetrical things to get a better idea.

I will say this-I don't recall Pea taking a pair of shots like the ones shane landed on Floyd.
