Kovalevs achievements are incredibly impressive (as are Stevensons) - coming out of almost nowhere in the space of 12 months and tearing through the LHW order. Arguably, for those who are interested in the higher weight divisions Kovalevs had just as impressive a year as Stevenson, despite Stevenson having collected the better known US scalps.

Surely there's nothing wrong with getting excited over a breakout fighter who's gone from being a barely recognised up and comer to one of the top names in the division by means of 4 brutal KOs in the space of 12 months?
I like him and think he has a bright future but wont join the others worshipping him on that pedestal before hes done more. I want him to do good. The more better boxers the better the sport but its gotten crazy. Not GGG crazy but crazy

There are currently 2 threads worshipping him. Go see the posts even though im sure you already have seen them

Pure power punchers have often, but not always, been "exsposed" when in with a more highly skilled fighter. The assumption (or bias) is power guys usually don't have a "plan B".
They either win by KO or lose. That may not be 100% true, but the theory has merit.

Nonito v Rigo is the most recent example.

so many people here who constantly make excuses for fighters they don't like or want to see do well..... In their eyes, they will NEVER be legit and always be overhyped and "The Next Matthysee".... Just sitting at their computers praying that they lose eventually
Andre Ward would dominant Kovalev he wouldn't even be able to hit him.

Maybe but they weren't televised. Sucks for him.

Kovalev crushed the guy who dominated Cloud on NBC Sports. Televised for all to see.

I've already seen them, of course, but that's the same as saying that various other threads about other peoples favourite fighters are 'worshiping' them.
Some posters are more extreme, some less - some may just get carried away with hyperbole in response to the claims of other fans some may genuinely be deluded - many however make reasoned and reasonable contributions whether they agree or disagree with the TS. This is just the way forums work everywhere.

Tell me your favourite fighter and I'll show you similar threads either current or historical.

What does it really matter anyway? As you point out, you ain't falling for the hype.

If AAA, the Almighty Arthur Abraham, or his rival Pantera, could land on Ward, what makes you think Kovalev couldn't?

Rough one with Nelo - but you know what I'm saying then, you know there were those who went to similar extremes even if you didn't. It just looks different from the outside when you're you're looking in.

And hey - we've all eaten plenty of crow (unless exclusive Floyd or 'Zaggy fans) - it's part of the fun. Anyway, I suspect a lotta fans of unbeaten fighters are simply folks that can't bear to acknowledge they're not man enough to eat crow from from time to time.
