I would like to know the reasoning behind the statement. Sergio is far better than anyone he's fought so far. I wouldn't sleep on him too much.

I agree, 3G will KO/TKO any guy from SMW and under but will lose to Andre Ward if ever they meet.Comment

There's no fabricating and there's none of this bs of protecting this guy. He's young, he's gaining huge moment on the scenes, he fought 4 times last year to get better. He destroyed Stevens who nobody wants to be reminded the killer everyone thought he was and how he'd train wreck GGG. He's unlike Mayweather who won't fight the best of the best. U don't have to be a fan of Gennady but be prepared to come up with a bs excuse each time he dismantles the next challenger.Comment

Ha - yeah that's exactly what Sanchez says - you got got the perception of the finest precise crystal laser lens. With mud on it.Sanchez talks out of both sides of his mouth...he forgets what he says 5 minutes earlier. First he said GGG can beat anyone from 154-168 and then he says people shouldn't expect GGG to go up in weight to 168 that isn't fair to him to fight Ward. He says he isn't 168 fighter but then says he walks around at 168. But then they say they will fight Chavez at 168. lol And let's not forget, they have been fighting nothing but 154 pounders mostly so it is fair to ask all their opponents to come up in weight. Listening to his videos and interviews, he is so arrogant. He thinks he is the best trainer now because of GGG....any trainer working with GGG and there would be no difference.
Ain't really worth re-iterating but GGG fights 'JMWs' about as often as any other MW - namely once in his last 6 fights (and that was Rosado a JMW who fights at MW size). The only thing that Sanchez says about 'fairness' is that he believes that with more wins and more exposure, Golovkin will be able to negotiate better terms to which he (Sanchez) believes GGG is entitled - which is a fair point.
FWIW Sanchez actually kinda says he thinks Garcia is deserving cos he's had a lotta success with several fighters. He does also seem to be displaying a bit of (possibly false) modesty, whilst also trying to sell himself and his gym, but why not?Last edited by Citizen Koba; 01-09-2014, 05:03 PM.Comment

It'd be nice for him to give a breakdown of why he thinks that, but then what's he supposed to say? All he does say is that it's cos that's what he's seen in the gym.
TBF though I don't know that comparing resumes on a website is a more effective critique.
FWIW I've already explained how and why GGG beats 2014-5 Maravilla.Comment

154 punder Kirkland? when not fighting Kirkland weights more than JJC Jr. so whats your point?Yet GGG has not yet FOUGHT ANY LEGIT GUY in his prime. What are you talking about, Rosado B-Level JMW fighter, Ishida B Level past him prime fighter, Stevens- No skill B-level fighter, Proska- B level and unproven fighter. Plus they just had an article with Sanchez and his team even saying that they were not interested in fighting Ward right now who is an A+ level fighter in his prime. This myth of him fighting anyone from 154-168 is starting to get ridiculous. I like GGG and I am a fan and think he is exciting but lets not ride his balls so hard until he fights a legitimate guy I am sure he is as skilled as we all THINK he is but he has yet to prove it against a high level guy and there are more people in the MW division besides Quillen,Sergio, Sturm there is still a host of other fighter ranked in the top 10-15 and I heard that Geale is interested in fighting GGG but HBO did not want to televise the fight instead they are pushing for another mismatch against GGG and 154lber James Kirkland.Comment

If Martinez hasn't much left GGG might well steam roll him. But if Martinez still has his movement/reflexes, he could give GGG problems. Martinez has obviously deteriorated but he still a threat to GGG. You have to respect Martinez even now, he can punch, and one shot could end the fight. Still think Matinez would be a tough nights work.
Would not be surprised to see Martinez take a decision (albeit he isn't shot). Martinez is a beast when he's on his A game.
Think Martinez needs a warm up fight to return before stepping straight in with GGG.Last edited by Uturn; 01-09-2014, 05:33 PM.Comment

Sanchez is certainly very confident. I'm sure he also realizes that Martinez is a class above guys like Sturm, Barker, Geale, etc. And those guys are a big class above the guys GGG has been fighting. Golovkin can't just walk through Martinez's punches. Martinez is one of the smartest fighters out there. To suggest that an unproven but promising fighter like Golovkin easily beats Martinez is pretty arrogant of Sanchez.Comment
