I get it, Guerrero is trying to get paid by leaving GBP and possibly getting Manny with TR. It's every fighters right
But how can you complain about a company that gave you the biggest fight of your life? the fight you screamed to anyone who would listen that you wanted?

They built him up as a worthy opponent for Mayweather ( I actually thought he had a legit chance of winning), got the fight, got the money, got the exposure, and now suddenly he wants out?

Schaffer has every right to be angry about this.
Offering a mega fight conditioned that a fighter extends his contract is nothing new, and what any company would do. You're about to invest million of dollars into a fighter, of course you want to reap the benefits of his exposure and extend his contract.

I come from a family of Laywers and this has no merit.
Doesn't matter where a fighter comes from, if he and his legal representation are present and agree to the contract in New York its valid in that state. This happens all the time with movie stars and athletes that may live and pay taxes in CA but get endorsements with companies in other states, more often than not companies in New York. No one is getting around anything, if Shaefer is to be believed then all of their contracts are done this way which is not uncommon with promotional agreements. The contract is valid in the state that the signer is in, not the signee as long as they are aware of it and in this case appears they were.

Now the Ali act is another issue but that could be argued a few different ways in terms of who determines the mandatory, the states athletic commision or the sanctioning bodies? Would have to know if there is any other precedent upheld for a fighter needing to sign a a additional promotional agreement to get a mandatory fight. I wouldn't bet against this being standard practice at Top Rank.

Most likely he is just making a stink thinking Golden Boy will just wash their hands with it and let him walk. Guerrero is probably just now realizing that 3 million payday isn't all its cracked up to be and wants another one vs Pac before he is done.

I side with The Ghost. Bradley, Marquez and Pacquiao are his best available opponents and he can't get in the ring with any of them because of the BS they made him go through to get the Mayweather fight. And on top of that, he was Floyd's mando so he shouldn't have had to sign ****.

When the promotional wars get in the way of fighters getting the best opportunities to advance their careers that is a problem.

Robert needs to be careful what he wishes for. If he wants out, let him out. If he wants to go to TR, let him go. He's basically leaving a promotional company that could match him in high dollar fights regularly for the next 10 years (fighting as much as 3 times a year) if he choses to fight, for 1 fight and possibly for a promotional company with a dwindling pool of talent. In the long run, I think he'll make more money with GBP than he would for another promotional outfit or as a free agent.

Should he win the 1 fight it's speculating he's chasing, he might reach superstardom.

I think he has about as much of a chance of beating Pac as Rios did.

What's funny is, if they fight, Pac will use the same foot work Floyd did and Pac fans will say Pac put on a masterful performance while continuing to say Floyd ran all night.

Just because those opponents are available that doesn't mean he'll get the fight. Marquez is soon to retire, what makes you think he wants to fight Guerrero? He won't make much money fighting Bradley, that probably wouldn't even be a main event if HBO has anything to say about it. The only thing he could hope for is Pac man and if he made 3 mil against Floyd he definitely won't make that much against Pac.

He should have stayed at GBP and fought some of the lesser fighters that GBP has at 140 and 147. He'd make less per fight but at least he'd have a chance to win and build his marketability back up, plus he'd get more fights over the years.

I remember getting hated on for liking Guerrero as a fighter. Remeber getting told i dont know the sport, Im a sheep if i buy the PPV, and that i should log off if i think hes any good. Even got a few red K's for it. Man just like the testing issues times have changed.

I like guerrero and i really dont care who promotes him. I do think this is a bad career decision and has TR interference written all over it but oh well its not my career.

I like the fight if it happens. im gonna support it but best believe i gonna make fun of the Pac fans who are going to take a huge 180. Some already have.

Same thing though that if it involves floyd its awful and cherry picking and bad for sport but if the same thing involves pac then its awesome for the sport, hes a warrior, and if you dont like it then you arent a fan of sport. SMH!
