If Arum really pushed to make Rigo a star he'd be a star, its that simple. In boxing they chose who they make a star. Of course you got those exceptions one like Hopkins.

SlipStream: saying Mayweather is an act when the cameras are on is half true. He blows up easy with his temper, him talking sht to his dad on 24/7 was not for camera but just how childish he really is. You seen how in a interview this year he went baserk when asked if he thinks Pac is back and will he fight him? Floyd said his health is number 1. Floyd still keeps it ******, its just half his persona.

I do believe there is a roughness to Mayweather but I'm not buying that BS on 24/7 as some sort of reality. Maybe I've become somewhat jaded because reality television is somewhat of a glut right now but I think I can differentiate between who he might be and a "******" persona he's conjured to act as the antagonist or foil. I've watched Mayweather's fights for seventeen years and yet, I would never presume to know the man, no matter how detestable his antics are.

Rigo is boring unless he fights the right kind of fighter. He hasn't fought that kind of fighter yet I guess.

His size is a huge factor too - everyone knows opportunities and big money for guys fighting south of 130 are hard to come by to start with.

If Rigo fought with the same style at 175 I bet he wouldn't catch half the flack he does. Chad Dawson never took much criticism for boxing his way to wins in unremarkable fashion and he is nowhere near as skilled.

Couple that with the lack of English you pointed out and it's worst case scenario on all ends. He can't even open his mouth and defend himself.

I think its hard for people to gravitate towards rigo because he's so cerebral. His boxing acumen is so ******edly high that it may as well be considered a superpower. He is a boxing god among men, so much so that our own mortality blinds us from witnessing the true beauty behind his craft.

Rigo is defensively skilled but his offense leaves a lot to be desired. His ability stops other fighters from actively throwing punches, recently Donaire and Agbeko suffered similar fates but we have to remember two things:

              1. Donaire looked even worse in his come back fight, which shows that he seems to be lacking the desire and the physical/mental ability to push on. He may well be a shot fighter now. Did Rigo do that to him? Possibly. Could Rigo have stopped a fighter like that? Yes, he should have, many great fighters have finished off rivals when the time called for it. Leonard made a career of it.

              2. Agbeko was never a great fighter or even close to it, he was a B level slugger at best yes Rigo treated him with too much respect and caution. That's his style and mentality, but it won't make him great and it damn sure won't make him marketable.

No disrespect to Rigo, but lets get real here, even if he did fight a somewhat entertaining style he would still be unknown. For one, he fights in the lower weights, he's Cuban and he can't speak English. He' s a non-entity.
He's known by millions a two time Olympic/World Champion, he was on the front page of every major news paper and on the internet when he defected in South America a few years ago
