People somehow get this idea that as soon as you weigh over 200 it doesn't matter what the weight is. I've fought in the amateurs weighing 205 and fighting guys who weigh 250-260, even as high as 300 lbs. Believe me, the weight makes a huge difference, and it isn't as simple as saying I have more speed and stamina so it should be even. The simple truth is putting someone like Byrd in with Klitscko isn't all that much different that throwing a featherweight in with a welterweight.

The reason why the heavyweight division is soo bad is because the smaller guys aren't willing to fight in it. Cruiserweight and light heavyweight divisions are starting to get very good is because guys like Tarver, Mormeck, Bell will not be willing in a million years to up to heavyweight and take on all these guys weighing 230 plus, so they stay in their divisions. Back in the old days these guys would all be moving up and becoming the next heavyweight champs.

If you made the heavyweight limit 225 lbs, you would have a division with people like Braithwaite, Mormeck, Tarver, Bell, Byrd, Johnson, Toney, Juan Carlos Gomez etc etc. Hell, maybe even Roy Jones or Mike Tyson would throw themselves into the mix for a few more fights. In a couple of years as all these guys are in the heavyweight division and prospects also start emerging, you are looking at an excellent division with highly skilled boxers and lots of big fights.

Having a superheavyweight division would really help the current heavyweight division.

        Superheavy 235 and up.
what about byrd picking on andrew golota, kali meehan and davarryl williamson so he can retain his belt?

id say a heavyweight division where the deserving fighters get the title shots would be a much better idea.

this is a ******ed post by the way.

my man wlad would just get down to 235, come into fight night at 255 and maul everyone like a giant wildebeast.

          225, maybe 220. Not 235.

read the initial post genius, he said 235 as the limit, thats what im responding to, i didnt ask you what you thought it should be.

also, any of you guys who are saying 220 should be a cutoff for the heavyweight division are obviously idiots. you must all be 5 foot somethin and weigh 165 pounds and get manhandled by your fat ***** girlfriends. any full grown athletic male who stands 6'3 or above will naturally weight 220 pounds or more, to make them have to join some joke of a division cause youre jealous you never grew past 5'10 is just plain ******

A lot of fights are not really competitive. Smaller heavy weights are figting opponents who were 25 to 30 pounds heavier not to mention the height disparity.
One more divisin is the last thing we need. Actualy there are 17 divisions , its a lot. From the historic 8 divisins now we have 17. These things are not good for the best sport in all the world.
              They will destroy it.

Golota, Meehan, and Williams are either near his weight and height and or are never has beens (actually that goes for all). But with Wlad you have a person that's trying to get a belt against someone he already beat and the fight in his crooked ass adopted home country of Germany.

You are pathetic. Why aren't you demanding he fight Brewster again?

uuuuum maybe because brewster said he only wants to fight other belt holders, we`ll get rid off byrd and put wlad in position to rematch brewster and unifi later this year.

and for the record, no the amount off talented hw are low today another divison would just **** upp more, maybe increase cruiser to 210.

I know what these juys are trying to say. We dont need a supre heavyweight class, but we could end the crying by extending the Cruiser weights to a maximum of 219lbs.
