Ward is looking suspect right now, and so are a few others. So many critics criticize Mayweater for ducking fights, but he went up in weight and beat Cotto and Canelo, yet GGG, Ward, Chavez Jr., and Martinez have not done the same. At least Kovalex has been seeking Stevenson and Hopkins, and not calling out the smaller men.

Oh i get it, the word lineal expains it all lol. just think its funny the way people put weight in that over unifying.

There is no politics with lineal titles, you either beat the man, or beat the other best person in the division (no1 vs no2). The only real politics arises when you have branching lineages from places, such as Boxingscene, or TBRB. However, universal lineages cannot be questioned.

I prefer a lineal title over unified titles. For example, Froch could unify every title in the division, but Ward will always be superior even without a title (if was the case). The opposite is true, insofar as unified champions may be considered the best (i.e RJJ over Dariusz at 175), however, it still meant RJJ was not the man of the division at the time, crazy as it seems.

Martinez was long considered the Middleweight champion, even when he had no title (WBC stripped him)...he was established lineal champion.

The idea is to really replicate what a championship should be - the man to beat, established by the best facing the best.

Ward is the best fighter from 160 on up, if Kovalev wants to take an L, I'm all for it. Hopefully GGG team won't all of a sudden move to 168 when Ward moves up to 175. But honestly, Stevenson is the guy Ward should be looking at. These idiotic boxing scene fan boys can stand on their opinions all they want, fact of the matter is that Adonis is the Lineal Champ at the weight, he's the man to beat, not Sergey. Now if Kovalev by some miracle is able to beat Adonis, then he becomes a priority. Until then, it's not a necessary bout.
