Just a complete mismatch, who would even want to pay to see that!

Stick to 154lbs or just retire because the 147lbs division is done and dusted, its time to step up and test yourself the only fight in 147lbs worth watching is Pacquiao and that is all because of that dumbass making excuses and not wanting to fight a prime fighter.
Well pac is unrealistic at this point and floyd aint fighting lara...so that leaves porter.. maidana.. or because God knows why.. Khan. Khan aint proved he's worth his weight in salt at 147, porter needs another good to decent win. That leaves Marcos "El Chino" Maidana.

To be honest the only fights I want to see May in is Bradley, Pac, Thurman, and Lara..With that said 2 are not options due to promotion. And the other 2 needs to build a fan base. Thurman is closer to getting there than Lara unfortunately due to lara's style and him not being able to speak english. Out of Khan and Marcos I would rather see Khan fight. Khan may have a lot of flaws but in reality Khan has never lose any rounds boxing. Everytime Khan loses rounds it's due to pressure or getting caught by something viscous. This could be the fight where we see Floyd walking a dude down beating him up Mosley style. Marcos while he did improve and beat Broner down needs a stationary target Floyd would not be that therefore Floyd will embarrass him.

Floyd has been in the ring with better fighters than Maidana and fighters who have looked far more fearsome, so I don't really know where you get off saying he ''needs to grow a set for once and fight Maidana''.

I don't have a problem with Maidana, he is a tough little fighter, but he is leagues below Mayweather. All these threads show is that there will always be someone Mayweather is ducking. People don't give a shit about the quality of the fighter and throw their common sense to the side.
I said Floydie needs to grow a set, because Maidana will bust him up... whereas Khan is a much lower risk, and thus Khan, not Maidana, will be who Floydie will probably pick. And, like Maidana basically said, Floydie isn't invincible, no matter who thinks he is. And AGAIN, I repeat, I don't think Marcos beats Floydie. I just think he beats him up more so than anyone has so far.

And so do you think the old Maidana would've beaten Bonehead? Just curious.

When thinking of possible opponents for MW at 147lbs the case seems to be there are no elite fighters available. We have good champions and contenders but not what I see as elite at least not at 147. MW did not clash with his generation of prime elites for what ever the reason and now he is in a league of his own. The only thing I see beating him is time and he may retire before it gets a chance. People should not get there hopes up and just appreciate his level of boxing.

Cant see why so many people against this fight, the truth is Floyd is in a league of his own and there is no one on his level, the Pac fight is unlikely to ever happen and neither is a Bradley fight, the Khan fight is a joke although i would still watch it to see Amir shown to be the terrible con he is, Garcia is smart and is going on his own road Thurman is not earned the privelage yet though looks set to be up there at some point, so that leaves Maidana who while he may lose will put his heart on the line while doing his best to dethrone the King, its a long shot but it is for all who take him on.

He would be chasing Floyd all night just like Guerrero. Broner is not a true welterweight, he is small for the division and Chino was able to push him around and keep him on the ropes.
Not a chance in hell Floyd will just sit there and let Maidana square up, he will be gone the second Chino comes in on him. I like Maidana and respect his heart, but this would just another version of the Guerrero fight.

And BTW, someone this far into their career, making as much progress as he has in his past 4 fights, should definitely be commended.

As for Floydie, he would pick Khan MAINLY because it's less risk/higher reward. Khan can pop, but not like Maidana. And the Khan fight puts more moolah into Floydie's already stuffed pockets. So as a biz decision, I wouldn't blame Floydie if he chose Khan. As a boxing fan though, I think Floydie needs to grow a set for once and fight Maidana. And no, I doubt Marcos beats him, but he would beat him up worse than even Cotto did.
Don't act like he's all of a sudden Pernell out there. Hurt by Josesito, wasn't being beaten by JSK before an early stoppage, and did great vs Broner but was lost rds 3-7, the size difference made all the difference in that fight.

Yeah he deserves the fight more than Khan, but neither he nor Khan have done great things to deserve it. I don't care who he picks out of the current choices. Maidana has more momentum, but Khan is a fight we haven't seen before.

Mayweather's defense is levels above Broner's and his boxing skills make Alexander look like an amateur. Anything can happen in boxing and Mayweather is not invincible, but he is hands down the better boxer and should win easily if the fight were to take place.
true and completley agree, but at least Madaina earned the shot.

How does this sound, why don't we just make all the fights on paper and Mayweather can retire not fighting anyone since all they guys being mentioned as opponents don't have a shot. He has the same or better shot than anyone but the bottom line, he earned the shot.
