Facilities are important, as well as coaches and trainers with knowledge of the sport.
    boxing or pro boxing?
don't people on here watch any amateur boxing?
obviously not given the indians are pretty damn good at that

regards coaches and trainers, well yeah they only have a group of cubans running things over there for them...
(well i dunno they do RIGHT NOW but for a long time they have done)

The Indian Boxing Federation is keen to extend its association with Cuban coach Blas Iglesias Fernandez, whose contract expired after London Olympics.

Kinda odd that a country with so many people hasnt had someone make it in the boxing world.
It's not just boxing, I don't ever recall a sports that the people in India was involved in?? I mean if u look at all the other countries even the poor countries u will see that their people is into some type of sports whether it's soccer or something else.

Some odd comments about cricket.....any guy who can throw a hard ball at me at 95mph and get it to hit me in the head is an athlete who needs to be respected. Michael Holding, Dennis Lillee, Malcolm Marshall and Allan Donald were not guys to be pissed around with.....if you did, you took your teeth and ribs home in a carrier bag. Serous dudes with bad intentions and they did not spend their time enjoying a nice cup of tea.

They have a decent Olympic boxing program...perhaps better than the USA's at the moment.

You are right, they were making some progress, which was a good sign.

But as i understand it the Indian government has suspended boxing altogether, not sure why, but i remember reading this earlier in the year

The more countries that embrace boxing the better for the sport, to think their is another Pacman in some village somewhere looking for a way out
