The jab is the key for both men. Sergio needs to keep Cotto on the outside with the jab and connect with the straight left to hurt Cotto. Cotto needs to use his jab to get inside and close the distance between them. He'll have to attack Sergio's body to slow his old legs down. Martinez will have to consistently get through Cotto's high guard. It would serve him well to attack Cotto's body too.

Which guy gasses first if it gets late in the fight?

My pick Sergio late stoppage. Hopefully he's fully recovered from his past injuries.
Martinez straight left to the body plus Cotto's tendency to fade makes it likely that Cotto will be the one gassing

Martinez look very bad in last fight in Argentina, and if he was in MSG that night, he might not have won the fight. If he had the same performance against Cotto in MSG, he'll lose the fight. Weight shouldn't be factor. Martinez is not that much heavier than Cotto. Both of these guys should avoid James Kirkland and GGG by any means necessary!

Cotto is a great fighter but this is a different fighter at middleweight he is still good and I think he should fight more fighters at middleweight rather then go right after the lineal champ he's not that big really and hasn't fought much at that weight that being said a good fight for him would be Canelo at jmw it would be good for both fighters and really competitive.

            Good fight!

I saw the Martinez vs Murry fight recently and Martinez won that fight because he had home advantage but if it was else where's he would've been owned. He showboats too much and cries for everything I thought this was boxing let the ref do his job and continue protecting yourself at all times. Martinez fights to open he leave body and face all open for good counters. Murry had a slow start but he gave Martinez the business and should've won that fight. But Cotto is another animal to try to tame. Everyone forget that Cotto is a southpaw turned conventional and that's why he's jab is a monster, if Martinez puts his face out like he always does he's got something waiting for him. We all so what happened to a Clottey and Mayorga when they gave Cotto that opportunity. All I'm saying it's gonna be a good fight let's see if it takes place.

RJJ said the same thing before the Martinez/Chavez Jr. fight and he was right. When you fighting a bigger guy you have to establish yourself early and let the bigger guy know you can hurt him. Its what Jones did well when he went up to heavyweight and its what Martinez did well early against Chavez Jr. Its also what Cotto must do if he wants a shot against the bigger Martinez.

Cotto still getting whooped. Martinez is going to pick him apart and bloody him up to a ko. don't know why people are trying to see something that isn't thier. Martinez only has troubled with guys bigger then him and he still got ko's over some of these opponents. Granted none had the skills of cotto but it don't matter if your a 6-8rd fighter. In a very long time Martinez has been the smaller guy and now he faces a miget it's going be an easy night for Martinez

Martinez isnt the same anymore . After moving up in weight he just hasnt been the same fighting bigger guys has taken a lot out of him. Now after all this time off because of the injury he def wont be as elusive as before. If Martinez thinks he is going to go in there with his hands down and fight cotto like he has everyone else he is going to get beat easily . Cotto working the body and throwing combinations being the aggressor martinez wont leave with a victory. The only way martinez beats cotto is if he can knock him out because cotto has better defense and better boxing then him he has a way better jab and knows how to mix it up more then martinez. People underestimate cotto but cotto will hurt martinez.

Man, I truly respect Cotto. People talk crap about kneeling against Margarito even though plastergate draws interesting conclusions.

But his heart cannot be questioned considering this guy will have faced Margarito twice,Mosley, Pacman, Floyd and Martinez by the time his career is over. Funnily enough the greater guys than him can boast no such thing.

Too bad that won't save him from dat a$$ whopping Martinez is going to hand him.

I think a very motivated Martinez will outwork and out muscle Cotto to a 12 round decision and possible late round stoppage. But I am not counting Cotto out especially if Martinez's movement is limited like it was against Murray.
