If the injury isn't legit, I hope it was Golden Boy wanting to reschedule for Floyd's undercard and not any kind of attempt to buy time by Mares. I have no reason to think Mares would do such a thing.

That's very kind of you to say so. I used to find interesting posts and very nice discussions would follow, but in recent years the amount of disgusting crap, disguised as posts, is so bad that I get sick of it, and many times I have comments and answers actually written out, and then just erase the lot saying to myself "what's the point"...
It's like malaria, hits me every so often....

if it doesn't show up on whatever imaging they use it will be hard to get a concrete diagnosis. damaged ribs are usually evident through labored breathig, heavy bruising, and obviously the pain. i've never broken mine. if mares has some bruising on his ribs (which he probably does from his first weeks of sparring,) he can claim that his ribs are bruised.
i'm pretty sure they'd disclose a fracture because it would keep him out for so much longer.
that said, i'm with you when you call into question these injuries. mares needs a rest. his knockout loss was swift, but it was still devastating. he was all but unconscious.

LMAO....you know, when the report came out, I was going to post my usual "trolling" post taking a jab at the hardcore Mares fans but I felt that maybe, just maybe the injury was legit. I thought to myself, I've never seen Mares back down from a challenge, he's probably really hurt. Then again given the proximity to the fight and the outcome of the first match, it was in the back of my mind that he was trying to get out of this fight someway......this report sounds pretty bad for him. I'll just leave it at that because I do (did) truly think he was one of the warriors of the sport and hopefully this report is later found to be false.
