I wouldn't surprised if this was all planned for the card to end up as an under card of Floyds bout they know they need to put a pretty bow on the turd that match up is going to be, nobody would watch unless they put some ridiculously good under cards.

No, I don't think so. The way it works is that fighters doing what they do, have many calls on their doctors. They become used to or prefer a particular doctor, they might become friendly enough that the doctor could be presented witg a pair of ringside tickets for every fight...... The fighter may go to the doctor and say "...it hurts when I move my arm/shoulder/leg/ hip etc. the doctor puts his finger on the directed spot and the fighter says, "Ow, that hurts".
Muscle strains are not Xrayable, and muscle fibre tears cannot be seen, so what is the doctor to do....? He says, wellll.. take it easy and lay off training for 3-4-6 weeks and give it a chance to heal. We can then have a little the****utic exercise regimen. "Oh but doctor", says the simon pure innocent, "I have a fight coming up, what can I do"? Well my boy these things take time to heal, you'd better postpone the fight until I can give you the go-ahead". "Well doctor, if that's the way it has to be...".... Come and see me in a week and we'll have a check-over, and be assured that I will keep a good eye on the injury".. Well doctor, I'd better have a note to show my promoter..." Certainly my boy, here it is, I had it ready".
And that's the ways it goes..my boy.

If this is to get the fite on Floyd's undercard i say good for him. Mares is an excellent professional who based on today's standards has an exceptional resume. He deserves it atleast better than Team Hayemaker debacles who dont even show up. He loses one fite and ppl started saying "exposed". With that said I like Gonzalez too he too is a consummate professional. I got Mares winning a decision UD.

I posted the day when this was announced it smelled of doubt.. a little more research& info from 2 MX papers indicated that the day when the "injury" occurred, Mares was not sparring...so how did it occur???let his camp explain that 1...

Interesting turn of events, which are still just rumors since it's all speculation. However if the faked injury turns out to be confirmed, I'm sure that it wasn't because Abner felt he needed more time to prepare because he actually wanted the fight to happen in December plus he's a true warrior and always stays in the gym. So it's far more likely that the handlers behind the scenes chose to move the fight date for their own reasons which we are yet to find out.
