- Well, as a villain... just, he behaved himself in an unsportsmanlike way. In general, for some reason within the african-americans there appears some inadequate guys. If in sparring, something does not go their way or does not work for them, they may hit you with an elbow. There was such a case when a white guy beat a black guy. After the workout, he took out his gun and began waving it in the face of his 'enemy', threatening to shoot him. This is not normal behaviour. I'm not racist, I understand that everywhere there are good and bad guys, but every day I like these 'tanned' less and less. I live in Florida, where there are many illegal islanders, and I see how they behave themselves.
That's the entire thing.

As a black man I am not even slightly offended that he said the word Negro. Not even a little bit. I'm more annoyed that he said Black people like to talk alot, "For them it's part of the show." Grouping an entire race of people, ignorance at it's best.

why is he even talking about race? He was asked if a particular fighter was his worst opponent no?
I agree that it does appear prejudicial but would you have the same issue if, say, he was living in Moscow (where Caucasian migrants such as Chechens are considered problematic by many and run some dangerous gangs) and said - 'Every day I like these Chechens less and less'? Or, for example, I have family members in Athens who would say the same about Albanians who now run much of the criminal activity in the city - the point being, they don't dislike them because they are Albanian - they even have Albanian friends, they dislike them cos many of them are dangerous.
In particular Kovalev singles out Criminals (illegals) from the Islands - presumably the Caribbean - Again it's clear he means not just all blacks (which he takes the time to specify - 'there are good and bad people of every race') - but criminals and dangerous lunatics such as the guy who pulled a piece after a sparring session.
Either way Kovalev definitely needs to learn to watch what he says now he's become something of a celebrity, and it appears that Klimas has since mentioned the fact to him.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 01-04-2014, 12:02 PM.
