A year from now this fight will be impossible because both fighters will be asking for too much. HBO is not going to pony up. And no freaken way Golovkin vs Ward will ever be a PPV. The time for this fight to happen is now when Golovkin still comes cheap.
I have no clue what point your trying to make in relation to my question. The correct answer is that that Golovkin lives under the same risk/reward motto as any other fighter and Ward is to risky for the reward.
I think he got 500k for his last one....maybe 600-700?
Doubt a PPV too... only way that happens is if either man fight a PPV beforehand.
JCC with Ward and Martinez with Golovkin.

It's also likely HBO will pony up more money for his opponents so I expect to see him get some marquee middleweight names next year because risk will finally meet reward.Last edited by DoktorSleepless; 12-31-2013, 05:30 PM.

I don't doubt HBO would pony cash for a bigger marquee name either. Murray, Geale...they both would get more than Stevens... especially now since Golovkin's ratings are rising.
Went from the lowest rating in HBO history (before Rigo/Agbeko) to top 3 of 2013.

Imo it would be a silly move on HBO's part too. They constantly push Ward but owing to his style I don't think he's ever going to be the crowd puller they want whereas foreigner Golovkin is doing bigger numbers than Ward against the likes of Curtis Stevens and is on a steep upward trajectory.

I don't get it. Even Andre Ward said words along that the fight doesn't need to be now and could be built up. Ward said that THIS year RECENTLY.
GGG isn't even getting a chance to fight the champs at 160.
Quillin: UHH WHO GGG, HE DONT MAKE THE MONEY BIG ENOUGH...
Murray: Yes I'll fight, nevermind I won't. Give me Sturm instead.
Martinez: Where's Cotto at?
Sturm: Who GGG? He's not proven enough. He's just the interim holder!!
