Andre Ward: Will he be back as soon as they want and will he beat Goosen?

Ward is "complicated" -- as his boxing style is... Ward is an inverted southpaw, because of his weak right hand (shoulder)... In my opinion his athleticism and innate balance helped him a lot with his career; but his "twisted stance" seems to have eventually affected him somehow at a psychological level... (Just my opinion -- I watch Ward closely since 2009).Comment

Unless something new has happened from the first lawsuit, Ward might still barred under res judicata because he could have sued Goosen in his personal capacity the first time around. It's not a good look if he's suing under the exact same theory (the contract is null based on public policy).Comment

When you're raked #2 P4P it's normal to be greedy -- especially when you see how much money Floyd is making, but you can't sell a 'decent' gate... Ward has a huge ego and he's dealing poorly with it...Ward is greedy. He signed that stuff on his own, not when he first came out of the ams to the pros and got tricked into it. Now they're trying to get out because they looked ****** doing it. Finish it like a man Ward, Goosen has done all this for you and you're gonna dump him for a Chavez Jr. fight....sadComment

Thanks... let's see how this rolls out. When Ward said he'd try and do what De La Hoya did, I had a feeling he wasn't going to winUnless something new has happened from the first lawsuit, Ward might still barred under res judicata because he could have sued Goosen in his personal capacity the first time around. Well it's really hard to tell based on the information you provided. There aren't any details regarding how the first case was resolved (if at all). You quote a CA statute that bars contracts longer than seven years, but don't provide any dates with respect to Ward's contract(s) (i.e. when it/they was/were signed and if there are any extension(s)). For a statutory bar to be applied, the dates will be paramount in any legal determination.
Would really need more information to make an informed opinion.Comment

I think it will be very tough for them to do a fight while a lawsuit is going on, I think Ward is in a tough spot with this and it sucks for him even if he did bring it on himself because if he thinks he needs to do this to really advance his career he only has so much time on the clock with which to do it.I think Arum is positioning it to the point where the only way he'll offer a Chavez Jr fight to Ward is if he leaves Goosen. I don't think there is any promotional rift and Arum just wants to keep everything in house for this.
I don't think Ward has a claim at the 7 year labor law since his is through contract extensions....but hopefully him and Goosen can allow a fight while the lawsuit is going through... beneficial to both
Again... I know jack about LawComment

It was an arbitration hearing iirc. I'm not sure that qualifies as a lawsuit.Unless something new has happened from the first lawsuit, Ward might still barred under res judicata because he could have sued Goosen in his personal capacity the first time around. It's not a good look if he's suing under the exact same theory (the contract is null based on public policy).
Edit: Prince/Leonard sued Goossen the first time.Last edited by Weebler I; 12-30-2013, 05:42 PM.Comment
