  • Andre Ward: Will he be back as soon as they want and will he beat Goosen?

A little unclear on everything here. All I know is he's suing Goosen to get out of a contract with him that's until 2015 and this is the third time he's doing it...or second.

He's trying to use a California law that said you can't have a contract more than 7 years and that's what DLH used to get away from Top Rank... only difference being in Andre's case is his was with extensions that he willingly signed with his team and Oscar's with TR was 7 years+ at signing. California's seven-year rule, also known as Labor Code Section 2855.

Ward wants to come back in 3-4 months and so did Goosen....but of course these legal troubles will put a hold on that if it isn't resolved fast enough. Or.... I don't know... they do a fight anyway while a lawsuit is pending (don't know enough about law to know if this is possible)

Anybody else want to shed light on this/discuss?

I know why he's doing it... just shaking my head at him doing it. Doesn't sound like he was tricked or anything when he was first brought on and Goosen took care of him and got him fights.

Ward's losing me. If he stays out of the ring an extended period because of this crap, he will completely lose me. It's a real shame to see a fighter like him spend his prime out of the ring.

Ward is greedy. He signed that stuff on his own, not when he first came out of the ams to the pros and got tricked into it. Now they're trying to get out because they looked ****** doing it. Finish it like a man Ward, Goosen has done all this for you and you're gonna dump him for a Chavez Jr. fight....sad

I think and hope they could hopefully put him in a fight instead of putting him on the shelf during the lawsuit

I don't think there is any way this gets sorted out in time for him to fight in 4 months. The only way is if they settle and Goosen gets the next fight then some percentage until 2015 possibly longer.

I guess I get his issue but it is not like the bigger en****** have a ton of guys for him to fight to make him a PPV star, he already is in the door at HBO and they want to show him so.

Good luck to Ward I hope he can get this sorted out shortly.

I think Arum is positioning it to the point where the only way he'll offer a Chavez Jr fight to Ward is if he leaves Goosen. I don't think there is any promotional rift and Arum just wants to keep everything in house for this.

I don't think Ward has a claim at the 7 year labor law since his is through contract extensions....but hopefully him and Goosen can allow a fight while the lawsuit is going through... beneficial to both
Again... I know jack about Law

Goosen would go straight to the police and main****** media, it wouldn't be worth Prince's while. If intimidation was all it took, I think he'd have done that already.

I'm not sure if Goosen was awarded a final judgment, but under res judicata and collateral estoppel, Ward is precluded from re-raising issues from the prior litigation and any other claims that could have been brought during the first case.
