It was 1 punch, everyone gets caught. Are people seriously trying to dissect it like it came from a series of preceding deterministic events?

I'd have to see it again, but I remember the punch started off looking like it was a body shot that he brought upstairs.

I genuinely think that in that particular fight Floyd wanted to try and walk Mosley down which made it easier for Mosley to land.

I'd say the Mosley, Ortiz and Cotto fights, Mayweather tried to make the fights more 'entertaining' by staying in the pocket. If you remember, at this particular time various boxing scribes were saying that Mayweather had gone flat footed.

Then he went back with his father for the Guerro and Canelo fights and he like the Floyd of old, defence first, on his toes counter punching.

He used what minimal fast twitch reflexes he still had left in the can. It was more than enough to temporarily crumple Floyd up. This is why Floyd has to be so careful about who - and when - he chooses to fight.

And... in all fairness, Mosley threw a great faint to the body and shot an overhand.

Was a great shot by Mosley, well set up and everything aligned perfectly. It was funny seeing how embarrassed Floyd looked watching the replay on the big screen after the round

Mosley set a nice trap and Floyd was a little too careless. Shane kept throwing the jab to the body. Floyd's response was to parry the jab. That sequence happened a few times and then Mosley threw the same jab to the body but immediately followed it up with a missile right hand. It was a good set up by Mosley and Floyd was lucky he didn't pay dearly for that mistake.

It also showed me that despite not being in trouble often, Floyd has great survival instincts. He held on to Mosley immediately after getting hit. A lot of fighters have lost fights because they were unable (or unwilling) to clinch to survive.
