Gennady Golovkin - Ring Magazine fighter of the year.

It should've been Rigo IMO but still, congratulations GGG!

I found it odd the magazine owned by Oscar would have Triple G as FOTY but I saw this:

Fans selected the undefeated Kazakhstani KO-machine from a crowded field of contenders for 2013's highest individual honor. [Editor’s note: this is not THE RING magazine’s official choice for Fighter of the Year. The magazine’s official year-end awards for 2013 will be announced in the March edition.]

Fans selected makes more sense. Still a ridiculous choice.

So it's Ring magazine's fan's fighter of the year.

HBO is the biggest platform, I'd say they've probably been pushing Golovkin the hardest this year. I think it shows he has huge star potential, the fans love him, hopefully the broadcaster don't force him up in weight.

I guess all it takes is to fight 4x a year (no matter who you fight) and you win fighter of the year.

Agreed, how anyone can think he deserves it over Stevenson, Garcia or Rigo is beyond me.

Or Mayweather, or Bradley, or Kovalev, or a few fighters.

I'm a Golovkin fan, but his year was nothing worth even mentioning in any Fighter of the Year discussion.

That's criminal but as a fan of GGG I'd like him to get more recognized. Still, Bradley, Rigondeaux, Mayweather and Garcia were far more deserving and I do mean far.

Should have been Danny Garcia imo.

                    But I'll take GGG!
