This is only GGG's first year on HBO and he's still in the building process. Martinez came off surgery and Cotto is a showcase and $$$ fight, therefore killing two birds with one stone. If he handles Cotto like he should, I think we'll see 3G/Martinez at the end of 2014.
Is Sergio a coward for not fighting GGG?

And yet Cotto asked for a 150 pound catchweight against Margarito in the rematch. Things that make you go HmmmmmmCotto says he turned down Pacquiao because Pac wanted a 150 CW.
Marquez wanted 50-50 split and didn't get that so he went with Bradley with the reason being that Bradley is the champion and is 'the best', but that was after being rejected of the 50-50 split.

But wait, there's more. Remember Pac saying he's topped out at 147, not going back up again? Here's Cotto taunting him for not being willing to meet him at 150. Why can Marg get 150, and not Cotto? Does Pac fear him? Then Pac offers 150, and Cotto says the weight and money are not right, goes on to lose to much bigger Trout for peanuts.
WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto is counting the numbers on the check. Puerto Rico's biggest star told Raul Alzaga that his final decision, regarding his next opponent, will be determined by money. Cotto and members of his team are evaluating two possible scenarios - a fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, or a rematch with Manny Pacquiao on June 9th - also in Las Vegas.Comment

Is there an actual reason as to why Martinez won't fight Golovkin?
Seems like it would be an easy fight to make.
I haven't really been following it.Comment

bute? Stevenson also was #1 at 175 and said he would fight ward at 168 but instead we got rodriguez. these guys all only look for certain opponents Floyd style.Comment

Lou DiBella has been talking nonsense excuses for a while now arguing against the fight. If Martinez beats Cotto and doesn't hurt himself, it pretty much has to happen for Martinez to still be considered the legitimate middleweight champ.Comment
