He didn't earn the shot. But cash rules. Professional boxing is a business first. So knowing that, the fight makes sense. And I don't mind it. I think Cotto will beat Martinez anyway.

Cotto is going to take that strap from a rapidly aging Martinez...and suddenly we are looking at Mayweather-Cotto II for the lineage at middleweight.

i dont see why not. cotto vs martinez sounds like a good fight to me. cotto will fight anybody, he fought margarito when none of the other elite fighters wanted to. hes been in with guys like mosley mayweather pacman etc, he is a 3 weight world champ and i see nothing wrong with him stepping up to fight the champ.

None of those names come close to what Mosley, Mayweather, Margarito, Clottey, Pacquiao... etc ETC were during the time Cotto fought them.

Cotto has never avoided anybody. His resume is truly incredible.

              And I hope so man.........
This is all basically foolishness. Pure buffoonery.

Youre comparing Sergio to the Glam division. No, the guys Sergio beat didnt have the Glam like the WW division had but it had some MF punchers and Sergio came out on top - by KO mostly - in a divison higher than his normal weightclass.

If Cotto wins he'll be anything but a paper champ. He'll have beaten the undisputed middleweight champion of the world. It'll be the first lineal championship of his career

That said, I had my heart set on Martinez v Golovkin.

Why a Sergio fan wouldn't want this fight is beyond me, it's a winnable fight for him and the biggest payday of his career.

But if you're scared to lose... that could change things.
